Chronology of cameras Olympus
Remember end of 90s, Apple launched a new model of computer called iMac. It has the shape of a big candy due to the designer Jonathan Ive, and especially the colors of this candy. Its translucent shell allows you to look inside, and to marvel at the components (and incidentally allowed the development of the first version of this site). The fashion for acid colors and their improbable names is launched.
That's what it's all about here since in 1992, Olympus called its new APS model i Snap (having the i in lowercase is essential. At Apple, it meant the Internet. Olympus is just to do like Apple), and comes in three colors with the pretty names of Kosmic Kiwi (green), Rocket Ruby (pink) and Sonic Sky (blue). Strawberry, Blueberry and Bondi Blue are already taken.
The idea is to attract a young clientele, who follow fashions.
The camera is fully automatic. It is equipped with a 7.3/24 mm Triplet fixfocus lens. Focus is sharp from 1 meter to infinity. The format of the views is limited to 16.7 x 30.2 mm. We regret that it is not possible to choose from the three formats usually offered by most APS cameras. The management of the flash and the anti-red-eye system is also automatic.
The i Snap comes in a nice clear, inflatable package suggesting it's safe to take to the pool. Attention ! the iSnap has no moisture protection.
